Home Valuation

Buyers Resources

If you have recently purchased a home, you may qualify for a homestead exemption. If you are a surviving spouse of a deceased homeowner, you may qualify for a homestead exemption. If disabled or over 65, you may qualify for a homestead exemption. If for any reason your application is denied, you can appeal.

Texas offers a variety of exemptions from appraised property values used to determine local property taxes. A partial exemption removes a percentage or a fixed dollar amount of a property’s value from taxation. A total (absolute) exemption excludes the entire property from taxation.

Exemptions from property tax require applications in most circumstances. Applications for property tax exemptions are filed with appraisal districts. For more information about Homestead Exemptions, please contact Marla Lewis, Broker at 832-868-6091 or your local appraisal district.
